Closing In documents ice fishermen on Chicago's southeast side. The ice fishermen gather on the frozen lake over a former U.S. Steel harbor. On a three degree day, I went fishing alongside the thirty or so people at the harbor, conducted interviews, and took photographs. Primary and secondary research about the shifting neighborhood adjacent to the harbor were combined into a text that gradually closes in on itself, much like the unattended ice fishing holes.
